Monday Night Ligue 2 Clermont – Lens Preview

Clermont – Lens

The Clermont squad is in great condition ahead of this match. Their only injuries are long term to Pierrick Capelle and Hugo Videmont. In total, they welcome back 4 players this week, the majority of which are in defence. Their backline was depleted at Nancy last time out in a match they lost 2-3, but Avinel, Lippini and Da Silva all return here which is a major boost. Continue reading

Sunday Ligue 1 Pre Match Analysis & Picks

Bordeaux – Montpellier

The hosts have a squad in good condition here with only Poko injured and Poundje suspended. Neither of those are important players, so won’t be missed much. A least 5 players in the predicted starting lineup were rested midweek and didn’t feature in the Europa League against APOEL, so fatigue and tiredness shouldn’t be an issue for Bordeaux. Montpellier have one new injury to contend with, Continue reading

Saturday Ligue 1 – Pre Match Analysis & Picks (evening matches)

Bastia – Nice

The Bastia squad is in good condition, although defensive midfielder Yannick Cahuzac is injured. He’s mostly been an ever present in the side this season so will be missed. The defensive duo of Squillaci and Diakite both return from respective suspensions which is a boost. Nice do have a couple of new injuries, albeit not to players who’d have necessarily started. Right back Romain Genevois is ruled which means Gregoire Puel will continue in that position, he’s an inconsistent player who can blow hot or cold. Continue reading

Saturday Ligue 1 Marseille – Reims Preview

Marseille – Reims

The only two injuries that OM have are in defence. Lucas Mendes is out which means Souley Diawara will once again line up at CB. He’s a downgrade though IMO and his ageing body means he’s in a natural regression period now. More of a concern though is the absence of stud right back Rod Fanni because of a thigh injury. It had been hoped he’d be fit enough to contend for a place here, Continue reading

Saturday Ligue 2 Caen – Nancy Preview

Caen – Nancy

The hosts welcome back important defender Felipe Saad and influential midfielder Laurent Agouazi from suspension. Both will start and really bolster the strength and backbone of this side. They have no new injuries to contend with, although CB Molla Wague and attacker Jonathan Kodjia are still injured and both of those would be potential starters. In general though Continue reading

Friday Ligue 1 & 2 – Pre Match Analysis & Picks (Part II)

Creteil – CA Bastia

The hosts have a squad in good condition but do have one new injury to worry about. Midfielder, Ibrahima Seck went down last week with an ankle problem and he’s ruled out here. He’ll be missed because he’s a very energetic box to box midfielder who adds a lot to the team. Some good news for Creteil though, they welcome back key playmaker and captain Jean Michel Lesage. Continue reading

Friday Ligue 1 & 2 Pre Match Analysis & Picks (Part I)

Nantes – Lille

The situation is very simple for Nantes in that they only have one injury to worry about. That’s to striker Johan Audel who has yet to play for them since his summer transfer, so hardly much of a loss. The squad is virtually unchanged and the XI may well be the exact same which beat Ajaccio 1-0 last week. Lille will probably start an unchanged team too here. They still miss key defender Continue reading
