Saturday Ligue 1 Pre Match Analysis & Picks (evening matches)

Guingamp – Nantes

Mustapha Yatabare is still injured for Guingamp which severely reduces their strikepower. Many people (including myself) have taken the piss out of him a few times this season, but it can’t be argued he’s scored key goals and is a threat upfront, even though he can sometimes act like a donkey! In midfield, Mustapha Diallo is still suspended but the hosts don’t have any other absences to worry about. Continue reading

Saturday Ligue 1 & 2 Pre Match Analysis & Picks (early games)

The rescheduling of St Etienne – Reims  means there’s now a great triple header of French football this afternoon!!!

Nancy – Lens (14:00 cet)

The Lorraine outfit only have one injury ahead of this match. Attacker Benjamin Moukandjo is ruled out and unfortunately for them he’s quite important as he provides a lot of energy and creativity to the side. Either Benjamin Jeannot or Florent Zitte will likely replace him upfront, but neither is as good and will be an obvious downgrade. Continue reading

Friday Ligue 1 & 2 Pre Match Analysis & Picks (Part II)

Marseille – Montpellier

OM just have Rod Fanni and Andre Ayew injured. They played only 3 nights ago away against Arsenal in the CL, but a number of players were rested to the bench in that contest so fitness and fatigue shouldn’t be too much of an issue. Montpellier don’t have any new injuries to worry about, their most notable absentee is probably LB Yassine Jebbour, along with Gary Bocaly Continue reading

Friday Ligue 2 Pre Match Analysis & Picks (Part I)

Caen – Angers

Caen make two changes to their squad. Firstly, important midfielder Nicolas Seube is ruled out through injury and secondly attacker Larry Nangis is dropped to the reserves. Seube has experienced which will be missed, although hasn’t been in great form this season. Caen still have CB Molla Wague and winger Jonathan Kodjia injured. Both would be regular starters, Continue reading

Monday Night Ligue 2 Auxerre – Caen Preview

Both teams are in good condition ahead of this match and there are few injuries or suspensions for either to worry about. Nobody has an edge in this department so its just a question of who plays better on the night. Auxerre are a solid enough team who have performed quite well at home recently. Their performance against Tours (4-0) was especially impressive, although they do generally lack consistency. Continue reading

Sunday Ligue 1 – Pre Match Analysis & Picks

Lille – Toulouse

The hosts have no new injuries to deal with, but striker Nolan Roux is suspended. On a positive note, they welcome back the midfield duo of Florent Balmont and Idrissa Gueye who both missed the previous encounter against Guingamp. Toulouse do have their young talented defender Uros Spajic suspended, but crucially welcome back stud shutdown CB Abdennour from injury. He missed both their last 2 games and the backline will be massively upgraded with his presence. Continue reading

Saturday Ligue 1 Pre Match Analysis & Bets (later games)

Evian – Lorient

The hosts are at full strength in defence and most of midfield, but do have issues in attacking areas. He might be old, but legendary playmaker Cedric Barbosa is still a big part of the Evian team, but he’s broken his collarbone so won’t be seen on the field until 2014. Upfront, Kevin Berigaud remains injured, and now Nicolas Benezet joins him on the sidelines. Modou Sougou is suspended, although for those of you who saw his performance against Monaco a couple of weeks ago, you might think this is good news! Continue reading
