Friday Ligue 1&2 Pre Match Analysis & Picks

Auxerre – Valenciennes

AJA actually looked impressive on Tuesday night in the cup at home to Nancy. They won 3-0 and totally deserved that success, despite fielding a very weak team. It’ll be interesting to see if the coach stays faithful with some fringe players, because a lot of them actually played better than the current first choice XI! In the ligue, Auxerre have been inconsistent and you never quite know what you’re going to get with them. They lack creativity with Vincent Gragnic, Livio Nabab and Frederic Sam Continue reading

Saturday Ligue 1 Pre Match Analysis & Picks

Reims – Caen

It’s been a tough start to the season for Reims, they’ve faced the likes of PSG and St Etienne. Having said that, they’ve actually competed fairly well and even managed to pick up a point in those fixtures. New coach Jean Luc Vasseur is certainly willing to ‘have a go’ and I can see them scoring quite a few goals this season under his guidance. Newly promoted Caen meanwhile, certainly haven’t disgraced themselves. A superb 3-0 away win at Evian was followed up by an unlucky home defeat to Lille. The big problem Continue reading

Friday Night Ligue 1 & 2 Pre Match Analysis

Arles – Sochaux

Injury news is quite favourable for both teams. Arles welcome back key left back Erwan Quintin which is a nice boost. Remy Bonne has been doing a good job in his absence though, so he might have to be content with a place on the bench if not fully fit. Sochaux still have striker and captain Teddy Butin ruled out, but hes often injured anyway so they should Continue reading

Monday Night Ligue 2 Pre Match Analysis & Picks

GFCA – AC Ajaccio

For this Ajaccio derby, the hosts are at full strength and have no injuries to worry about. The visitors meanwhile, have key defender Ronald Zubar suffering from a virus and is ruled out. In midfield, they’ve lost Ricardo Faty to Standard Liege. As of yet, they haven’t replaced him properly. The rest of their squad is in good heath, give or take a couple of fringe players who are suffering injury. Continue reading

Saturday Ligue 2 Brest v Angers Preview

Brest – Angers

The hosts have a problem at left back where regular starter Wilfried Moimbe is injured. Replacing him will be Tripy Makonda, who is a very poor defender. He’s not too bad going forwards and can cross it well, but his positioning and concentration at the back is often questionable. I also have my concerns at RB for Brest where Brendan Chardonnet is still the projected starter. He’s not too bad but I really feel like they could start someone better than him at this spot. Elsewhere, they are at full strengt Continue reading

Friday Night Ligue 2 Pre Match Analysis & Picks

Auxerre – Orleans

These two teams actually met on Tuesday night in the CDL. That match was played in Orleans and Auxerre won it on penalties. Both sides actually rotated their squads to some extent, although Auxerre changed things around more, so perhaps they could be slightly fresher tonight. Orleans at least don’t have any injuries to worry about, unlike the hosts. New signing (an Continue reading

Monaco Season Preview 2014/15

GK & defence

Despite many saying he wouldn’t keep his place in the team, Daniel Subasic was actually a pleasant surprise last season for Monaco. His competition this year is dutchman Maarten Stekelenburg who’s signed on loan from Fulham, but it’s unlikely Subasic will be ousted as no1. The backline stays largely intact, although having Aymen Abdennour fit a Continue reading
