Sporting Kansas City Preview
SKC will continue to miss the important duo of Matt Besler & Graham Zusi who are on international duty. Centre back Nuno Coelho & winger Brad Davis are both doubtful with injury. SKC started the season well but have since only won one of their last eleven games, which is a really poor return. Lack of goals has been their big problem, netting just 14 times in 16 games. Key man upfront Dom Dwyer often plays a lone role in the final third and can get isolated a bit too much on occasion. The feeling around the club isn’t too great and the Copa America break probably came at a good time for everyone. They’ll be anxious to return to winning ways but with key players potentially missing then it’ll be a tough battle for SKC.
FC Dallas Preview
It looks like the visitors will be lining up at full strength, minus centre back Zach Loyd who might not have started anyway. Dallas headed into the Copa America break unbeaten in five matches, so they had plenty of momentum. Whether or not they can continue that here remains to be seen but the Texan outfit are sure to be confident. Dallas do have the second best away record in the Western Conference but have lost four times on the road already this season. If they are vulnerable anywhere, it’s on their travels. But the team possess great pacey options all over the park, especially at left wing with Fabian Castillo set to wreak havoc on the SKC defence. Dallas are a well drilled unit will good all round strength that can’t be underestimated.
Conclusion & Betting analysis
This is a tricky one because there’s definitely a dangling carrot for me with a 2.25 goal line available to back. The worry is that statistically both sides have been involved in quite a lot of unders this season. The way Dallas play should definitely yield more overs. They have some great attacking potential but do have a habit of missing chances as well. SKC are in exactly the same boat, they simply waste too many opportunities. This is the sort of match that might end up with exactly two goals in it, so reluctantly I’ll refrain from, betting. In terms of a match result, I’d have to favour Dallas over SKC. They are the better outfit, have fewer absentees and SKC have shown very little in the last few matches to suggest they are anything but a below average side this season. I wouldn’t put anyone off backing the visitors +0.25. But home advantage has to be respected in MLS, so on this occasion I’d say no bet is the best option.
