Seattle Sounders v LA Galaxy
This match is going to be kicking off at midday (local time) which is fairly unusual in MLS. The weather might be quite hot and some of the players might not have fully woken up compared to their usual circadian rhythms. There’s always a big rivalry between these two teams and expect the intensity to be really high with loads of commitment. Seattle have been having a poor season but should be able to get themselves up for this one. LA Galaxy are at their weakest on the road and historically struggle at Centurylink field. I think this one will end up as a draw and it’s a really difficult betting prospect.
Philadelphia Union v DC United
East coast battle between two big rivals here. I think this will be a fairly tight contest, but also full of high intensity. In my opinion, the best two goalkeepers in MLS are Andre Blake and Bill Hamid, and both face off here. It’s incredible how many ridiculous saves both make each week and it severely lowers goal expectation. From a betting point of view I looked at under 2.5 here, but in the end decided to refrain. I’m going to predict a 1-1 draw again. If any team is to win then Philly are more likely, but only by a small margin.
Toronto FC v Chicago Fire
The Fire haven’t won away from home in 31 matches, which is nearly a full 2 years. But all streaks have to come to an end at some point, right? Maybe they have a chance here because TFC are missing a lot of key players to injury and haven’t been playing that well recently. Sebastian Giovinco is having to carry the side and he’s out of form, just not looking sharp. Chicago will make themselves very hard to break down here and neither side will be easy to penetrate. I actually think the visitors have a decent chance to gain a rare away win and Toronto are way too short on a -0.75 handicap line. Under 2.75 is maybe worth considering, but overall I’ll stay clear from this one as well.
Vancouver Whitecaps v Colorado Rapids
I personally see this match as a potential 0-0. Colorado simply don’t allow any side to play and they are so hard to break down. Only DC United have had more under 2.5 matches than them this year (12/17) and it’s difficult to see how this match could escalate into a high scorer. Vancouver are a naturally attack minded and positive team but right now lack quality strikers who can put the ball into the back of the net. They’ve been missing too many chances which is a major problem here because they won’t get many against a resolute Colorado. This match doesn’t interest me from a betting point of view and I think a low scoring draw, or even a tight 1-0 road win is the most likely outcome..
